The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is looking for an experienced, flexible and committed Finance Manager to join the International Secretariat in Oslo, Norway.
The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) aims to strengthen governance by improving transparency and accountability in the extractives sector. The EITI is a coalition of governments, companies and investors, civil society, investors and international organisations. It has developed a robust yet flexible methodology for monitoring the management of natural resources. The EITI Board and the international Secretariat oversee the EITI process. Implementation takes place at the country level, in a process that emphasises multi-stakeholder participation. The Secretariat has a staff complement of 38, mainly based in Oslo, with a turnover of USD 7 million.
The Finance Manager will be responsible for the sound financial management at the Secretariat, including: development and implementation of robust and yet simple to use financial systems, policies, procedures and tools, while ensuring adequate record keeping and reporting. You will be part of the Finance and Administration team and will be a versatile resource for the team and the organisation as a whole. You will report directly or indirectly to the Executive Director.
Ensure sound financial management of the EITI (Budgeting, Accounting, Invoicing, Payroll, Banking, and Financial Reporting).
Develop systems for project management and financial control, and ensure adequate oversight and management of large project initiatives with partner organisations.
Develop, implement and maintain internal financial rules, regulations and policies.
Ensure that required systems, procedures, policies and Norwegian legal obligations are in place and are adhered to.
Support the Finance and Audit committees in accordance with the Committee’s mandate and workplans.
Supervise the maintain adequate record keeping of financial transactions and ensure independent external audits are carried out in a timely manner.
Provide advice and support to the Executive Director in developing fundraising strategies and in securing and maintaining annual and multi-year funding agreements with government donors and companies.
Lead development and maintenance of an effective and improving IT environment that optimises EITI's finance work.
Responsible for procurement of administrative services and equipment, aiming to ensure efficient and effective EITI operations.
We think the right candidate has a thorough understanding of FM policies and procedures, with proven experience as a finance and accounts professional, minimum of 5+ years’ experience. You lead by example and have strong organisational skills with the ability to engage in critical thinking. You are able to establish good relations with staff and partners and communicate efficiently.
Relevant, advanced University degree and/or professional finance qualification.
Proficient knowledge of Norwegian accounting and compliance practices to ensure compliance with Norwegian legal requirements.
Excellent command of written and spoken Norwegian and English. Other language skills would be an advantage.
Outstanding knowledge and experience of Tripletex or similar cloud-based accounting software.
Good working knowledge of MS Office and solid Excel presentation skills.
