The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) International Secretariat is recruiting a Communications Officer. The successful candidate will work as part of the EITI communications team, supporting the communications activities of the International Secretariat. A major part of the role will be the provision of communications support to a new global programme – Opening Extractives.

Opening Extractives is an ambitious global programme launched by the EITI and its partner organisation Open Ownership. It aims to end the use of anonymous companies linked to corruption and mismanagement in the extractive sector. Closing this channel for corruption can boost the ability of the sector to contribute to development.

The programme will support 8-10 resource-rich countries in developing systems to disclose high quality beneficial ownership data, build capacity of stakeholders to analyse the data, and mobilise global support for beneficial ownership transparency.

The Communications Officer will work to raise awareness of the programme and the importance of beneficial ownership, build and leverage political commitment, communicate key project milestones to global and country-level stakeholders, share technical information in an accessible format and stimulate cross learning and the wider application of best practice.
