Nationality: Trinidad and Tobago
Gisela is responsible for oversight of EITI implementation across the 14 implementing countries in Francophone West and Central Africa. She is responsible for direct implementation support to Cameroon, the Central African Republic (suspended member), Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and the Republic of Congo.
Gisela joined the team at the EITI International Secretariat in May 2014. Having worked at the Trinidad and Tobago EITI National Secretariat in the previous two years, Gisela brings to the table a unique perspective from EITI implementing countries.
Gisela pursued an LLM. in Energy and Natural Resources Law at Queen Mary University of London in 2018. She is passionate about development issues and to this end read for a double Masters degree in International Development Economics at the Sorbonne I University and the Paris School of Economics in 2008. Her first love is Francophone culture and upon receiving a post-graduate diploma in Interpreting from the University of the West Indies, worked briefly as a French Interpreter. Her professional interests include renewable energy and the energy transition.
